Supporting Your Young Person (For Parents & Carers)
Choosing counselling for your child or young person can feel like a big step. At Brighter Voices Counselling, parents and carers are viewed as important partners in the support process.
What can you expect?
-
Your young person will be offered a safe, respectful, and confidential space
-
Counselling is tailored to their age, needs, and communication style
-
Safeguarding and wellbeing are always prioritised
Confidentiality & Your Role
-
Confidentiality helps young people feel safe to talk openly. While parents/carers provide consent and support, session content is kept private unless there are safeguarding concerns.
-
Where appropriate, general themes or guidance may be shared to help you support your young person.

How you can help
You can support your young person by:
-
Encouraging attendance without pressure
-
Listening without trying to fix everything
-
Being patient — change can take time
-
Asking how counselling feels for them
If you have questions or concerns at any point, you are welcome to get in touch.
Every young person deserves to feel heard, supported, and understood — and every parent deserves reassurance that their child’s wellbeing comes first.
